Remembering Emmanuel Vincent, June, 2026
We are deeply saddened by the passing of Emmanuel Vincent, a long-time contributor and one of the founders of the CHiME community.
Emmanuel made fundamental contributions to the CHiME activities, which have grown into one of the most successful and influential challenge series in the speech and audio research community. His strong belief in the importance of speech separation and recognition technologies for everyday life, together with his dedication to rigorous challenge design and community-driven research, helped shape CHiME into its current form.
Beyond his scientific achievements in speech enhancement, source separation, and robust speech processing, Emmanuel was also a thoughtful collaborator, mentor, leader, and friend to many of us. His work and spirit have had a lasting impact on our community.
We sincerely thank Emmanuel for his tremendous contributions to CHiME and to the broader speech and audio research community. He will be greatly missed.
